The Fish Don't Care What You Wear

By Catherine Kenyeres
The fish dont care what you wear. Waders, vests and hats for fishermen are necessities to brave the elements.
Waders are a must if you are planning any surfcasting or stream wading. And what you need to know about waders, no matter how much you spend for them, they will eventually leak and new waders must be replaced.
Love to fish in the streams during the summer? Rivers are low running and are not deep; so hip waders are perfect. Why heat up in chest waders when hip waders will suffice. On the other hand, those one-piece chest-high waders are a necessity for surfcasting. Irritating sand or pea gravel cannot wedge their way into your boots.
Alternatives to chest waders are the stocking-foot waders. Stocking-foot waders are also chest-high, but anglers will require wading shoes or boots. Some anglers favor wading shoes or boots as they give added support and traction while fishing all day.
It is difficult to imagine fishing without vests. Vests are invaluable as they contain many pockets to hold such items as expensive flies or lures as well as your bug repellant. But ensure that the pockets open from the top and not the side so not to lose those valuable flies or lures. Not to imagine losing your car key.
And lastly, dont forget your fishing hat and sunglasses. You certainly do not want to get sunstroke in the hot sun as well; fishing hats shield your head from the rain. Furthermore, hats and sunglasses will protect your eyes from glaring sunlight and you can see what the fish are up to when the sun is setting in the sky. Which in fact, is the most opportune time of the day to catch that big one.

Calorie In Alcohol - Liquid Calories Count, Even If They Don't Register

By Caroline Cederquist When researchers go looking for trends that might explain the nations obesity epidemic, most agree on at least one thing: Americans have a drinking problem. Its not only alcohol. Its everythingsodas, sport drinks, specialty coffees and teas, fruit beverages of every ilk. Except for milk, Americans per capita consumption of virtually all beverages has steadily increased over the last couple decades right along with our average weight. Does that mean all the extra guzzling is to blame? Nutritional researchers think its definitely part of the problem, for several well-documented reasons. To begin with, in spite of advertising promises of satisfying refreshment, the science shows that when we drink our calories, we actually dont feel satisfied, literally. With the notable exception of milk, fluid intake typically isnt sufficient to trigger production of the hormones that alert the brain that the stomach has been fed. Thats the sensation doctors call satiety; most people call it being full, and recognize it as the cue to stop eating. This is particularly so if youre slowly sipping, but research shows that it holds true even if you slam a tall, cold one, and in Southwest Florida, who hasnt done that? But that sudden temporary bloat youll feel is no substitute for satiety. Now consider that point together with another key part of the problem: portion sizes for food servings are ballooning out of control, and drinks are the worst of it. Pick any given bottled beverage, one of those fancy coffees or teas, a fruit drink, soda or sport cooler. Then check the nutritional label, first for calories and then for number of servings. Most contain two or more servings, but how many of us are really sharing that Snapple with a buddy? And dietary research at Penn State showed that even among consumers who did check nutritional labels for calories, they just didnt take the extra step and multiply for the extra servings, to get an accurate total calorie count. Fountain drinks are even more troublesome than bottled beverages. Ounce for ounce, those big fountain drinks are a better deal, so were buying more and drinking more! A 32 ounce, convenience-store fountain beverage costs, on average, about 69 cents. It sounds like a real deal, but keep in mind that a typical adult should consume from 2,000 to 2,500 calories a day. If you put regular sweetened soda in that vat, youll add about 300 calories to your daily intake, get no nutritional benefit whatsoever, and not even alleviate your hunger! Thats no bargain, no matter how big the gulp. Maybe youre one of those sippers or gulpers whove made the switch to a healthier fruit drink or sport beverage. Dont assume youre coming out much ahead of those who are sucking up the soda pop. A lot of commercially produced fruit juice drinks don't actually contain much juice. They're mostly high fructose corn syrup, water and fruit flavorings. The nutrients, if any, have usually been added after the fact to make the product more appealing to those consumers who do investigate the nutritional data. Take Hi-C, that perennial kid favorite. Its fortified with extra vitamin C, but it contains only 10 percent fruit juice, a fact that is emblazoned proudly across the label. Sunny Delight would have us believe that "citrus beverage" is a healthy drink choice, and its heavily marketed as a smart alternative to soda. Dont believe the hype. Sunny D is mainly corn sweeteners, water and fruit flavorings, and its a poor source of nutrients relative to caloric content. Researchers also find that when we drink our calories, as opposed to consuming them in food, we just fail to recognize that were taking in calories at all! When we load on extra calories by having a treat or eating too much at a meal, most of us will compensate by cutting back on something else, so as to try to consume roughly the same amount of calories overall. Not so with drinks. Study after study shows that its as if people think calories dont count if they come in a fluid form. People often sip drinks all throughout the day, but seldom displace any food intake to allow for it. The 300 calories in that large cola just get added on to the bottom line. The same goes for alcohol. People tend not to think about the calories in alcoholic beverages, and after the first couple drinks, they tend not to care about them, either. The good news is that as unwanted calories go, its pretty easy to shave beverage calories back off the bottom line. While dieters often have trouble reducing their food calories, research shows that cutting back on drink calories is, well, a lot easier to swallow. THROUGH THICK & THIN:
Quick liquid calorie cutbacks
Simply switch to low- and non-caloric beverages like diet soda, regular coffee and tea, or good old water. It may take you a few drinks to adjust to your new flavor choice, but itll be a lot easier than adjusting to a new, bigger pant size. Caroline J. Online Degrees

By Michael Russell Earning a degree online can be every bit as enriching as a university experience. Some people believe that online learning is not as interpersonal or dynamic as traditional face-to-face learning. This is a large misconception that has lead people to believe that online learning is impersonal. This is not the case at all and programs online, believe it or not present the same opportunities for group work, independent study, and communication just as it is in the traditional classroom setting. College online actually helps the independent learning process, and also helps to develop time management skills that many university students lack. Attending classes online require the same amount as commitment if not more than going to school. There are also many advantages for those students seeking online degrees. First of all, the student does not need to live anywhere near the school to attend. Attending class and submitting work online gets rid of the need to commute daily. Getting an online degree is a very convenient way to advance a student's education and training. The school may offer those online more sections of the course as well as night and weekend times for more flexibility. This is a really great setup for those students who have full time jobs or have other commitments. Also, if you are an individual who is returning to school, taking an online course can make your transition a lot easier. Besides, why wouldn't you want to attend college at home in your pyjamas? It is also very possible to earn an online degree in a fraction of the time it would take to do it at a college or university. Many online programs offer accelerated programs that are really ideal if you want to advance your career in a hurry. Several online programs offer students the option to attend part time. This can be very important in having your degree recognized by potential employers. Attending a fully accredited online university is critical especially if you decide to transfer to another college later because your credits will not transfer from a non-accredited college. It is very important to make sure you check the credentials of the online institution before signing up for classes. If you are worried about affording an online university there are several options for payment available. Some employers even offer to pay part of their employees' tuition fees towards their degree. You can also use governmental financial aid in the form of grants and loans and even scholarships if you qualify. You can check with your online program of interest to receive details of what options are available to you. The type of degree that you can earn at an online institute is limitless aside from the associates, bachelors, and PhD degrees. Professionals can continue their education and stay up to date in their fields. The world of online learning is no longer only for computer programmers and web designers. The types of online study available are almost limitless and receiving an online degree cannot only grant you a degree, it can also familiarize you with the technology of today.

Anniversary Gifts - Thirty-Fifth Anniversary

By Michael Russell Well, you've reached another anniversary milestone, your thirty-fifth wedding anniversary. If you're looking for an anniversary gift for this blessed event, you have just entered your third straight year of the gemstone gift. This year is none other than Jade for your modern gift idea. Of course, for you traditionalists, there is always the traditional gift, which this year just happens to be coral, which we will cover first. Because the thirty-fifth anniversary is such a big one, the gift makers more than have you covered, especially if you're looking for something made of coral. For starters, you can get your spouse a nice coral stone bowl. These come in a variety of diameters from 2 by 5 inches to 3 by 8 inches. The price range however is a lot broader than the diameter of the bowls themselves as they go for between $20 and $60 depending on the size. You can also get your significant other a coral stone serving tray. These also come in different sizes ranging from 10 by 12 to 12 by 15. That's inches. Fortunately, the price ranges of these aren't quite as wide. You can pick up one of these gems for under $60. If you're looking for something a little more unusual, you can pick up a nice coral stone candleholder. These are also sold according to size and are priced accordingly. You can pick up a four inch holder for about $20 or an eight inch holder for about $30. Of course, you can also get various sizes in between, all roughly in the same price range. If you're looking to spend a little more money, there are a variety of coral stone vases that you can get from rounded to cylindrical. The price range of these beauties also depends on the size and goes from $30 to $70. If all of this sounds like ladies' stuff, don't worry guys. Your wife can pick you up a nice coral stone chess set for about $200. Ladies, if your husband is a chess buff, this may just be the gift for him. Of course, there is always the modern day anniversary gift idea of jade. Yes, you are going to spend a lot more money, but after 35 years, money should be no object. So how about a jade butterfly pendant for about $105? Maybe the thought of a dragon jade pendant for $180 floats your boat. If you want to really impress your spouse you can pick up a dragon and bat pendant for about $200. A fish and lotus pendant will set you back about $250. Jade rings are a little cheaper and come in all kinds of shapes and sizes. You can pick up a nice jade ring between $75 and $100. Jade earrings will run anywhere from $45 to $120. But if you want to really spend the big bucks, a jade bracelet can cost you as much as $500. Yes, bracelets are a lot of money. Between the coral and jade ideas you should have no trouble getting your spouse just the right gift for this very special day. Michael Russell

Setting Goals To Conquer Your Russian Princess?

By John Kunkle Well, it takes a lot of energy to write letters to ten or fifteen women at the same time. It takes a lot of energy to travel seventeen hours on a plane and travel a nation of eleven time zones. It takes a lot of energy to meet lots of beautiful women. Dating, dining, dancing, conversing with, and romancing women take a lot of energy, but I cant think of a better way to spend it. To me, its naturally invigorating. I feel alive! Its not for someone who is not in the best of health or cant get out of bed. But if you cant get the energy up for courting beautiful, exciting women, then you probably belong at home. Did you know that there is a specific methodology for achieving a goal? First, the goal must be specific. Secondly, it must be measurable. It is important that you make your goal specific and measurable so that you know when you have achieved it. Thirdly, there must be a time element or deadline during which time the goal must be achieved. Other requirements for goal setting are that you identify the resources required to achieve your goal, that you have a support structure of people to help you attain your goal, and a step-by-step plan for attaining your goal. With this book you have the knowledge and the plan. You will need time and some money as well. My suggestion is for you to read this book all the way through so that you have an overview of the entire process. From there, you can decide on your plan of attack. Write your goal down. Get the calendar out. Break your goal down into individual steps. Write down the date you will have each step completed. Be realistic. Make your plan attainable. Allow time for contingencies. But by putting it down on paper, you will have made a tremendous stride in achieving your goal. It is a rule of the universe that what you can conceive and believe, you can achieve. By writing it down; by carving your plan in stone, you are almost a third of the way there to achieving your goal. John has been successfully married to a Belarussian wife for over five years. He has traveled extensively through Russia and other CIS countries. He will tell you why you should consider Russian women, how to meet them, how to bring your special woman home, and how to survive married life.

Look Your Best at the Beach or in Pilates Class by Sewing Your Own Swimsuit & Leotard

By Bizhen Lu A wide range of pattern styles is available. Styles with princess seams are
slenderizing. So are patterns with a center panel of a contrasting color; to
minimize hips, use a dark color for the side panels. High-cut leg openings on
swimsuits and leotards give the appearance of longer legs and a slimmer torso.
For a full-busted figure, choose a pattern with a bustline shaped by darts or
seams. To fill out a slender figure, use a pattern with shirring, draping, or
ruffles. Or choose a simple pattern style and a splashy printed fabric to
enhance a slender figure.
By sewing your own swimsuits and
leotards, you can make garments that meet your needs. Add a full-front
lining to a swimsuit, if desired; this is especially important for light-colored
and lightweight fabrics. Or you may line just the crotch area or add a bandeau
lining in the bust area. Purchased bra cups may be sewn into the bandeau if
firmer support is desired.
Two-way stretch fabric stretches to fit the contours of many different figure
types. Select the pattern according to the bust measurement to avoid extensive
fitting adjustments at the bustline. If you require different pattern sizes for
the hips and the bust, choose a multisize pattern, following the cutting lines
for the appropriate sizes and blending the lines in the waistline area.
Sewing Swimsuits & Leotards
Before laying out a swimsuit or
leotard pattern,
determine which direction of the fabric has the greater amount of stretch.
Nylon/spandex knits usually stretch more in the lengthwise direction;
cotton/spandex, in the crosswise. For a comfortable fit, lay out the pattern on
the fabric so the greater amount of stretch will encircle the body.
Swimsuits and leotards are fast and easy to sew. Most styles have only a few
seams and edge finishes. Stitch the side seams and crotch seam first; then try
on the garment and adjust the fit as needed.
If a one-piece swimsuit or leotard is too long in the torso, shorten it at
the shoulder seams; if this raises the neckline, the neck opening can be trimmed
as necessary. If the armholes are too small, causing the garment to bind under
the arms, enlarge them by trimming the openings. Leg openings should fit
smoothly; if they are too large, take in the side seams at the lower edge,
tapering the seams gradually. Stitch the shoulder seams after the fitting, and
apply the elastic.
Elasticized Edges
To stabilize edges and to ensure a snug fit on swimsuits and leotards, use
elastic at necklines, armholes, waistlines, and leg openings. Elasticized edges
also allow you to slip the garment on and off easily. Although elasticized edges
do self-adjust to your figure, do not depend on them to solve fitting problems.
If you have not adjusted the neckline, armhole, or leg openings, cut the
elastic to the lengths specified by the pattern. Most patterns print the cutting
information for the elastic on the guide sheet or provide a cutting guide on the
pattern tissue. If using a pattern with several views, be sure to cut the
elastic for the style you have chosen; for example, a high-cut leg opening
requires longer elastic than a standard leg opening.
Cotton braided swimwear elastic or transparent elastic may be used. Both
types of elastic, with excellent stretch and recovery, are chlorine-resistant
and salt-resistant. Most patterns call for 3/8" (1 cm) elastic for adults'
swimwear and 1/4" (6 mm) elastic for children's. Bizhen Lu is a professional sewer. Avail Finance with No Credit Check on Taking Bad Credit History Unsecured Loan

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Peter_Taylor]Peter Taylor When you decide to take an unsecured loan you know that it comes with harder conditions laid down by the lender which you can meet. But availing an unsecured loan with a label of bad credit turns out to be a harder problem to solve. Bad credit history unsecured loan at that time comes to the rescue of these people. The loan is given without any hurdle as it is especially designed keeping bad credit history in mind. The borrower is free to use bad credit history unsecured loan for whatever purpose he wants like meeting medical or higher education bills, buying a vehicle or enjoying a holiday trip. Though tenants opt for the loan, but students, people living with parents and even homeowners are eligible for the loan. Bad credit history unsecured loan does not require any collateral from the borrower. However in order to have some sort of security the lender may ask for proof of steady income, employment status or financial standing if any from the loan seeker. The loan amount and the interest rate depends a lot on to what extent the borrower is able to ensure about repayment capacity and safe return of the loan. Like any unsecured loan, bad credit history unsecured loan is offered for a limited amount and interest rate is higher. This is because the lender has to secure the loan by paying for its insurance. The loan is given for a shorter repayment term. This is because of risk factors involved. However higher interest rate and shorter period of pay off normally is not of much concern to the unsecured loan seekers like tenants, students as they require smaller loan which can be paid back early and therefore debt burden is not felt. Bad credit history means the borrower has been continuously defaulting on payments and he has faced CCJs and even may have filed for bankruptcy. This is represented in credit score. On FICO scale of 300 to 850, bad credit score is below 600, considered risky for loan offer. You can improve credit score a bit by clearing easy debts before approaching the lender. Bad credit history unsecured loan may enable you in improving credit score once the loan is paid back in time apart from meeting necessary requirements at comparatively low cost. Apply online for the loan for numerous loan offers. Settle for the loan package having easier terms and conditions and compare different individual interest rates of lenders. Milestone Birthday Ideas, a Roast

By Mike Hamilton Milestone Birthdays can be a lot of fun. One idea for celebrating a milestone is a roast. One of my favorite themes for a birthday roast is a memorial. The first thing you will want to do is send out the birthday invitations formatted like an obituary. A cheesy black and white picture of a younger version of the decedent adds a touch of legitimacy to the document. If you or any of your cronies have a flair for creative writing this can be a very warm and funny tribute, as well as a keepsake for all attendees. The location for the roast or memorial should be as somber as possible and decorated as such. Be sure to greet the guests in your with your most solemn and understated demeanor. Just before the festivities begin have your pall bearers bring in the cake, unlit. Make it as realistic as possible and give the pall bearers the honor of having a place of honor once the cake is brought in and placed in the appropriately. The roasters are your eulogists and your obituary will set the tone for what tack they take. If you want to make the guest of honor wildly successful than you will want to set that down in the obituary, If you want him to be a depraved soul who it will be difficult to find something nice to say, then that is something you want to include. Liberties and poetic license should be the order of the day. The way the honoree met his untimely demise should fit with his interests or something somewhat unique to them. Most of us remember the Mary Tyler Moore episode where Chuckles the clown was killed by a rogue elephant while dressed as a peanut. What more could you ask for in humor or irony? Another idea is using cap guns for a 21 gun salute. This could be used if the honoree met his end in some form of "heroics". Friends and family could be bogus people from his fictional biography. Additionally be sure to hand out black armbands at the door if folks did not have enough foresight to bring their own. Black crepe paper is a good cheap way to supply these. Black party hats with veils made of black pantyhose or some other translucent material can also be made. A milestone birthday roast disguised as a memorial can be and should be a lot of fun. You will have fun planning it and producing it, and if done well it will be a birthday party that folks will talk about for years to come. Visit the the author's website for more milestone

How To Find The Best Cellular Phone Plan For Your Calling Needs

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Tim_Gorman]Tim Gorman It seems like the cell phone has been with us forever, even though in reality it's only been a few short years. Are you still holding out against the crowd and doing without a cell phone? Nowadays it's a cell phone has almost become a necessity. Is it the technology that bamboozles you? Or are you like most people, and find the job of the best cellular plan too daunting? There are so many choices available to consumers, it's hard to know where to start in order to fine the best cellular phone plan for your needs. The key to success is to do some research and work out exactly what you need. So let's start with the basic questions you need to ask. What will you be using your cell phone for? Do you just want to have it with you in case of an emergency? Or are you keen to utilize cheap or free long distance calls? Perhaps you have an elderly or ill relative and you need to be certain you can be contacted at any time if there's a problem. These are all good reasons for having a cell phone, but they require different plans. You also need to think about how much time you expect to spend talking on your cell phone, and also what time of day you're most likely to make calls. Modern cell phones have an enormous number of possible features, so you need to think about how many of these youre actually likely to want or use. Some possible options include: Caller ID
Voice mail
Text messaging
Three-way calling
Inbuilt camera There are plenty more bells and whistles available, these are just a few of the more common ones. Some of these will be available as a feature on the phone itself, such as the camera feature, and so your choice of phone is important. If you're on the move a lot, then you may want to choose a Blackberry phone with email capabilities, so that you can keep up with your busy business or social life. It's always worth looking around for special deals on pricing, or special offers. It's quite common for cell phone companies to offer you a free phone if you sign a service agreement with them for a reasonable period of time. Sometimes you can send in a rebate coupon that essentially means you get the phone for free. If you're keen on text messaging, then sometimes there are special offers of 6 months free text messaging. Be careful, though, that you don't sign up for a plan because of a special offer, only to find that the ongoing conditions of the plan don't suit your requirements. The bottom line is - do you research if you want to find the best cellular plan. Take a look at what several different companies are offering. Talk to family and friends and get their feedback about the cellular plan they're on, and what sort of service they receive. You can also spend some time online looking at websites that do comparisons or plan searches for you. Basically all you have to do is enter what it is you plan to use the phone for, and the best cellular plans for those requirements pops up. Don't make the mistake of walking into a cell phone store with no idea what you want or why, because you'll quite probably find yourself walking out of there with a phone that's more expensive than you need, with features you really don't want. So take the time to learn a little about cellular phone plans, and you'll find it much easier to choose the best plan for your needs. Wedding Themes and Favor Ideas: Simple Ways to Decorate Your Wedding

By Tracy Yang Attention to details is the key to making your theme wedding unique and memorable. Below are some simple decorating ideas for popular wedding themes to help make your day truly magical. Beach Theme A romantic stroll down a white sandy beach with the cool breeze brushing against your face and the orange glow of the sunset behind your back is what we envision for those that are having a beach themed wedding. It is not complete without the necessities that make it a beach wedding. Start off with a message in a bottle invitation to casually invite your guest to a beautiful outdoors event. The highlight of the wedding are the guests arriving to see aisles of chairs decorated with garlands of fresh flowers in season and the waves crashing in front of them.Definitely a lei is a must for the couple to be as they stand and exchange their vows. Guests can enjoy the outdoors sea mist as they sit lightly fanning themselves with a sandalwood fan. To end a beautiful occasion, guests can go home with a memory of all this, with wedding favors such as tin pails filled with seashell potpourri or an elegant silver sea shell favor. It is a day that the bride and groom eagerly await for and happily will remember and cherish. Garden Theme A traditional quaint garden wedding brings tradition to modern times. If you are having a garden themed wedding, it doesnt necessary mean it needs to be outdoors. A modern edition of a traditional garden wedding can be substituted with great accessories. Create a floral ambience with fresh flowers in bloom all around the ceremony or reception location. Having plenty of flowers is a must to recreate a garden theme wedding if you want to play to your guests senses. Add some twinkling lights across the ceiling for a romantic ambience. Small furry critters are a great accessory to table settings such as butterflies, lady bugs, or bees. Line the walk ways with candles such as luminary tea light bags or have real trees or plants and hang some candles on the branches with hanging votive holders. Guests will happily end the occasion by bringing home some great wedding favors such as a mini pear candle that reads The Perfect Pair or a mini handbag filled with pear scented potpourri. Wine Theme Weddings Great food, friends, and wine are the ingredients to a great wine theme wedding. If having your wedding at the wine country is not within your budget, a recreation of the exquisite ambience can be done wherever you may be having your wedding. Grapes and more grapes are always a must to create a wine theme atmosphere. Have accessories on the table such as grape vineyard place card holders to seat your guest accordingly for that added special touch. Play off the theme with vibrant colors of deep maroon and gold or light ivory and gold depending on which wines you love, the reds or the whites. Make sure to fully stock your bar with plenty of wines from various parts of the country. Have guests nibble on appetizers to compliment the various wines. Lastly, have special toasting glasses or wine stoppers engraved with your guest's name so they can always remember your special day. Copyright Tracy Yang, 2005. All rights reserved. 6 Quick Steps to Stamp Collecting

By Lee Dobbins You get your mail, riffle through, then suddenly you spot that colorful postage stamp and you think, "I should be collecting them." Or, you're probably awed over that huge collection of stamps featured at the nearby museum. You look at it and say, "That looks like an interesting hobby." Well then, welcome to the world of postage stamp collecting. First things first. To start any activity, you have to have your materials and tools. In stamp collecting you'll need: - Your stamps
- Stamp album or stock book
- A magnifying glass
- A glass vessel, usually 8" by 10" or 10" by 12" in size, to soak your stamps in
- Lots of plain, white, paper towels
- A stamp drying book
- A thermometer
- Heavy books These can be found at your local post office, DIY store and the internet. You might also want to buy a watermark detector, but if you're just starting out, it isn't really necessary yet. Now on to the steps: 1. Get If you're starting from zero, the best way to go is to buy local postage stamps first. A packet of 500 or 1000 assorted worldwide stamps are usually available at your nearest post office. This goes for at least $3 to $6. Still isn't too varied for you, you could try to buy from dealers who sell "kiloware". Kiloware are stamps on-paper sold by weight (by the pound) for a specific amount. You could also try going to stamp shows where they sell stamps, by the bucket! See http://www.stamps.org for a calendar of the shows. Now, you can get try getting stamps for free! Here are some quick tips on how to. This will definitely make your stamp hunting more interesting and worthwhile: - Inform everybody you know that you're collecting stamps. Chances are they'd pull out all that old letters they kept and start giving them to you. Don't forget to say thank you. - Have relatives in foreign countries? Ask them to send you some (or a lot) of postage stamps available in that country. If that doesn't work, try asking them to send you letters instead.
- Know of anyone who's going on a business trip abroad? A vacation in Asia? Going up north? Ask them to send you post cards form wherever they are. Not only do you get the stamps, you also get to keep track of how they are. - Get to know your neighbors. Chances are one of them is working in a big company or institution wherein loads of letters pour in everyday. And if you're really lucky, said neighbor might actually be the one in charge of opening all those letters. You get the drift? - The next time you visit the post office, keep an open eye for stray envelopes that recent visitors have carelessly tossed aside. Many people read and discard their letters at the post office. - Make friends with fellow collectors. Trading and swapping not only increases your collection, it also allows you to get acquaintances and friends. - Get your grandma or grandpa to let you see their old letters. There is a high chance that you'll get rare and old stamps that you won't see anywhere ever again. 2. Sort Have you stamps in one huge box? Now's the time to sort them all out. Sorting is necessary to facilitate the storing process. Most of the stamps you have are on paper because they are cut out from mailing envelopes. You need to sort them out into: - stamps with white background paper
- stamps with colored background paper
- stamps with rubber stamp ink (especially those in red and purple)
- stamps without rubber stamp ink 3. Trim Leave about 1-2 cm safety margin when you trim your stamps. Also, try not to cut the perforations, as it will decrease the value of your stamp. 4. Soak Never try peeling a stamp off the paper, even if it's loose. Peeling like this is a surefire way to ruin your stamp. The way to do it is to soak it in water. First, fill up your vessel to about half. The water temperature should be around 30-35C. Water that's too warm or hot will increase the chances of color running. Soak your stamps by batches, around 8 or 10, for around 15 minutes. Remember: NEVER soak a stamp with white background paper and a stamp with a colored one at the same time. Stamps with a colored background paper and those with rubber stamp inks usually stain the water and might damage your white stamps. This is why you need to sort them all out before starting. They way to go with these problematic stamps is to soak them individually. Yes, it could be time consuming and tiring but in the end, you'll get great stamps. After 15 minutes, pick up a stamp with your fingers and try to peel it off the backing. If there is even the slightest of resistance, drop it back into the water and wait for another 10 minutes or so. 5. Dry After peeling, lay your stamps face up into a waiting paper towel. Put another sheet on top and gently blot the excess moisture. Be extra careful since wet stamps are very fragile. Afterwards, line them up in the plastic page of your stamp album. Place the blotter sheet atop them, close the book and press. It'd help if you put heavy books on top of the drying book to ensure nice, flat stamps. They should be sufficiently dry after 4-5 hours. 6. Store If you want to be able to move them around and shuffle them, you' be better off with a stock album. A stock album has plastics sleeves wherein you can keep the stamps and their duplicates. But if you want to store them for good, you can mount them in a stamp album. It'd be a permanent home for your beloved collection. Lee Dobbins has been an antique and collectibles enthusiast as well as dealer for 20 years. The Wedding Cake

By Eric Hartwell The wedding cake is one major aspect of weddings. For centuries, the wedding cake has been put on a pedestal. Its either used as the centerpiece on the buffet table or placed on a special table designed specifically for the cake. The reason why wedding cakes are so important for weddings is that theyre part of the tradition. The bride and groom are the ones who take the first bite. They each take a spoonful of cake and feed it to their spouse. According to superstition, the amount of cake you give your spouse is relative to the amount of children you will have. Wedding Cake History The traditional wedding cake is a multi-layered, vanilla-flavored cake with edible flowers adorning the sides and a bride and groom figurine on top. Its usually very elaborate. But over time, a lot of things change. Tradition will have to give way to the new trends. Incidentally, the wedding cake tradition has also been affected by the change in times. Modern Wedding Cakes Nowadays, instead of choosing the traditional vanilla wedding cake, couples opt for modern cakes designed by cake designers. They would usually choose cakes that fit their personalities or their weddings theme. Some couples forgo the tradition white cake in favor of a cake which has the colors of their wedding. For example, if your weddings color theme was blue and yellow, you could have a cake that has the same colors. They also base their choice of cake on the weddings theme. If they had a wedding with a Hawaiian theme, they would choose a wedding cake thats shaped like a pineapple. If you have a beach wedding, you might want to have a star-fish shaped cake or a sea shell shaped cake. Some couples also choose to have cakes that look like a stack of presents. Some choose cakes which look like pillows. Some cakes are even made to look like the brides wedding dress with exactly the same lace patterns and adornments. As you may already know, there are bakers who can print a picture on a cake. There are a lot of couples who avail of picture cakes for their wedding. They would usually choose a sweet picture of the two them. After all, you cant get a cake more customized than picture cakes. Flavors are also changing. Back then, only vanilla was popular. But nowadays, couples can choose from a variety of flavors like chocolate, custard, mocha, and coconut. Also, instead of decorating the cake with iced flowers or edible flowers, some couples choose to adorn it with real flowers like roses and orchids. Indeed, times have changed. You can clearly see the effects of modernization on weddings. From the gowns to the cake, weddings in the twentieth century are extremely different from weddings that occurred fifty years ago. But thats not to say that the traditional wedding cake is no longer popular. Tradition isnt easy to discard or to disregard, and thats why some brides still opt for the traditional wedding cake. Choosing a Garden Pond Design

By Carry Staltz If you are using a soft liner your water garden or fish pond can take any shape you like, square, round, oblong or just about anything else that your imagination can think of. If you are using a rigid or preformed pond then you are probably looking at a kidney shaped liner, this is the most popular. It is not the shape of the garden pond that gives it it's charm or character, it is the water plants, fish and the plants that surround the pond. Basically think of pond styles to be one of two formal and informal designs. Formal pond styles have clean straight lines and geometric shapes. They have rigid borders made of brick, preformed tiles or rocks. Formal garden ponds are used as reflecting pools. Meaning they are very calm and reflect the surrounding trees and flowers. You don't normally see this style of water garden in backyards. Rectangles and squares are thought of to be formal styles and the more they are stretched to being oval the more informal it looks. Which means kidney and pie shapes are informal styles. Informal garden ponds have curving fluid lines that flow without defined edges into the surrounding gardens and vegetation. They have a more natural appearance and function. Unlike formal styles the plants are not used as a decoration or ornament but as the main feature. Waterfalls are normally added to this type of design. Edging compliments the landscaping which can be irregular and hilly. Use large rocks and river rocks on the bottom and edges of the pond, which makes it seem more natural. Rectangles are the easiest to install, they are easier to dig a hole for and when using soft liners you only have to make a few folds in the corners. Preformed ponds like kidney shapes are even easier to install. Free formed, where you define the shape by digging and then lining with a soft pond liner are more difficult and the most expensive water gardens to install yourself. They require that you buy almost twice as much liner than you think you will need. If you are installing it yourself avoid shapes that produce arms or very irregular designs, it will be a nightmare trying to get the liners to fit. Just remember what ever shape you choose, it will not be very apparent once the surrounding plants mature. So you see it is not that important, just go with the easiest to install and decorate with beautiful plants and fish. You can read more information about and pond kits and water gardening here. Christ Was Begotten - Not Made

By Babu Ranganathan The Christian faith teaches that just as Adam and Eve were two persons but one flesh so too the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are three Persons but one God. The Lord Jesus Christ was both God and man. But was not Christ begotten of the Father? Yes, but this does not mean He was created or made. You and I were begotten of our parents, but our parents in no way created us just because we were begotten of them. Our life had already existed in our parents before they had begotten us. In fact, we really existed from the time of Adam and Eve even though we were begotten many centuries later. How is that so? Well, did not God finish His work of creation on the seventh day according to Genesis? If that is so then we had to have existed in some form from the time of Adam and Eve since God was no longer in the routine business of creating anything after the seventh day of creation week. In the case of Christ it is completely logical to say that He existed from all eternity in some form in the Father before He was begotten as God. In fact, in John 1:18 Scripture teaches that Christ is the "only begotten God" (this is the literal translation from the Greek New Testament). The word "begotten" in the passage comes from a Greek word from which we get our English word "generate". To "generate" means to "bring forth" out of pre-existing substance, whereas to"create" means to "bring forth" out of nothing. Just as sunlight is generated from the sun but is not created by the sun, so, too, Christ was generated (begotten) from the Father but was not created by the Father. Amen!! Amen!! After (Christ) was begotten of the Father the Father then through Christ (His only begotten Son) made all the universe (John 1:3, Colossians 1:15-16). And, of course, much later in time Christ was also begotten as man. In John 8:58 we read the words of Christ "Before Abraham was born I AM". It is clear from the use of the words "I AM" in this context that our beloved Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was claiming eternality which only the true God can claim. It is important to understand, also, that although Christ existed from all eternity within the Father, He was generated (or begotten) only once as God. In other words, God the Father was not eternally generating His Son. The concept and traditional doctrine of the eternal generation of Christ does not make any sense anymore than it would make sense to say that a human father is continually begetting the same son over and over again. But, again, just because Christ was not eternally generated does not mean that Christ is not eteranl because Christ did exist from all eternity, in some form, within God the Father before He was begotten as God. But if Christ was God how, then, could He die? The Scriptures teach that God can and did die. We read in Revelation 1:17-18 "... Fear not; I am the First and the Last: I am He that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive forevermore, Amen ..." The title "First and the Last" is from the Old Testament and it is a title that belongs only to Jehovah (or God). Thus it is none other than Jehovah (or God) Who is saying that He died. We know from the context of the first chapter in Revelation that it is none other than Christ who is speaking here. No one has the power to kill God, but God can, if He so chooses, give up His life so long as it is for a morally right cause and purpose. Just as it is not morally wrong for one human being to sacrifice his life for another so it is not wrong for God to sacrifice His life for those whom He created. This is exactly what God (the Son) did on the Cross. Phillippians 2:5-8 tells us that Christ gave up equality (positionally) with God (the Father) when He became a man and dwelt on the earth. Although He was still God even after He became man, He gave up the rights that He possessed as God when He lived on earth. That is why when He was on earth He was fully dependent upon His Father to perform miracles. Doesn't Hebrews 1:4, at least in the King James Version, say that Christ was made better than the angels? The word "made" in the passage is better translated as "became". Christ became better than the angels. Again, at His first coming as Man the Scripture teaches that Christ humbled Himself. He was made (or became) lower than the angels (Hebrews 2:9). Hebrews 1:3 teaches that after Christ made purification for sins He sat down at the right hand of God (the Father). That is when He became better than the angels because God the Father had restored to His Son His original position. It was after Christ died for our sins, rose from the dead, and ascended into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God (the Father) that God the Father restored to His Son His preeminent position again (Philippians 2:6-9). This is what Jesus meant when shortly before He went to the Cross He prayed to His Father "And now, O Father, glorify Thou Me with Thine Own Self with the glory which I had with Thee before the world was" (John 17:5). Christ is still both God and Man, but as Man He became exalted above the angels after He finished His work on earth. Of course, in His essential divine being and nature, however, Christ was always superior to the angels. But if Christ was equally God along with the Father and the Holy Spirit then why did Christ say to His Father in John 17:3 that the Father was the only true God. The word "only" in the passage must be understood in its proper context. Christ was not comparing the Father to Himself when He said the Father was the only true God. Rather, Christ was comparing the Father to the pagan deities that the gentiles of His time worshipped when He was on earth. In comparison to these pagan deities Christ was saying that the Father was the only true God. This has to be the meaning or otherwise we will have a contradiction in the Scriptures. For Scripture also teaches in 1 John 5:20 that Christ is "the true God and eternal life." It is important to understand the words of Scripture in the context of what all of Scripture teaches on any given issue or subject of doctrine. The Scriptures clearly teach that Christ is God (e.g. John 1:1; Hebrews 1:8; Titus 2:13). In Titus 2:13 Christ is referred to as "our great God and Savior." In Revelation 1:8 the Lord Jesus Christ Himself makes the claim that He is "the Almighty." It is clear from the context of the chapter that it is Christ Who is speaking. Certainly, the Scriptures do not teach Christ to be a false God as is the case with the Devil who is called "the god (or ruler) of this world." Ephesians 2:2 says that the worldly make the Devil their god and so did believers before they were saved: "in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient." The Devil is a false god and a creature. Christ, on the other hand, is true God and Creator. We read in John 1:3 that without Christ (Who is also called the Word) "not anything was made that was made." Obviously, then, Christ was not made or otherwise He would have had to have made Himself which makes no sense. Colossians 1:17 teaches that Christ "is before all things and by Him all things consist (are sustained)." And Colossians 1:18 says about Christ that "He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence." No creature must have the preeminence in all things. That position belongs only to Jehovah (or God) alone, and, thus, Christ must be Jehovah (or God) in order for the Scriptures to declare that He must have the preeminence in all things. Glory to God! Only God is capable of fitting such a description! In certain references of Scripture the Father as God may have preeminence because the Father is the Head of Christ just as Adam was the head of Eve and had a certain preeminence and priority in relationship to her. But, this does not mean that Eve was inferior to Adam. So, similarly Christ is not inferior to the Father even though the Father is the Head of Christ. Of course, while on earth Christ could say that the Father was greater because positionally speaking Christ had humbled Himself in the incarnation by becoming a man and subjecting Himself to the law. A question often raised is how could God Who is infinite become incarnated as finite man. The answer is that in the miracle of the Incarnation the infinite God grafted onto Himself finite human nature. The finite didn't contain the infinite but, rather, the Infinite contained the finite. Just as a one gallon tank can't hold ten gallons but, yet, a ten gallon tank can hold one gallon so, too, the infinite God (Christ) circumscribed and united to Himself finite human nature when He condescended to become Man. Colossians 2:9 tells us concerning Christ that "in Him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily." The full essence and nature of deity dwelt within His human frame so that He was both fully God as well as fully man. Because of the unique union of His humanity to His deity Christ had full access to all the attributes of His deity - omniscience, omnipotence, and omnipresence to use under the Father's direction and will. It is precisely because Christ was God in human flesh that His sacrifice on the cross for our sins had infinite value in the sight of God the Father. It is because Christ was not created or made but, rather, was the eternal and only begotten Son of the Father that it was truly a painful and enormous sacrifice for God the Father to give up His Son over to cruel suffering and death on the Cross for our sins. That is why it is written, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him (His Son Jesus Christ) should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16). As Son of God, Christ was fully God and as Son of Man Christ was fully man. The Scriptures use both titles "Son of God" and "Son of Man" in referring to Christ because He was both. What about Hebrews 1:9 where the Father says to the Son "...therefore God, even Thy God..." Why does the Father say "Thy God" to the Son if the Son is equally God with the Father. How can the Father be God to His own Son and the Son also be God? The great Reformed theologian and Christian writer Arthur W. Pink gives us an understanding to this paradox. In the context of the passage in Hebrews 1:9 the Father's statement to the Son is made after the Son's incarnation and when the Son assumes the throne to His eternal kingdom when it is established. The Son's human nature (in the incarnation) was created by the Father so the Father in that respect was God even to His Son. But in His divinity Christ was equally God with the Father. Another passage that is often misused by those who deny Christ's deity is 1 Thessalonians 4:16 which reads: "For the Lord Himself (referring to Christ) shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God ..." Because the passage says that Christ will descend with the voice of the archangel some teach that Christ, therefore, is an archangel. But the passage also says that Christ will descend with the trump of God. Does that then make Christ a trumpet? I hope not! The passage is simply saying that the archangel will be involved in introducing the second coming of Christ. It is not saying that Christ is the archangel! The word "angel" itself means "messenger" or "one who is sent" in Greek, the language of the New Testament. The Hebrew Old Testament also has this meaning. The context determines the nature of the messenger. In the Old Testament, for example, the "Angel of the Lord" is understood as being none other than Jehovah. This is seen from the context. Even though the word "Trinity" is not found in the Bible the meaning is there in Scripture. Just because a word is not found in Scripture doesn't mean the meaning of that word is not there. For example, the word "theocracy" is not found in Scripture but its meaning exists in Scripture since Israel in the Old Testament was a theocracy which means a nation ruled by God. But isn't the concept of God being a Trinity found in pagan religions? Well, even pagan religions have some elements of original truth even though that original truth may have been perverted by Satan (the Devil). Satan is a copy cat. The Devil takes what he knows is true, perverts and twists it and plants the perverted and twisted forms of the truth in human societies and cultures. Satan didn't invent the concept of the Trinity. Satan already knew that God was a Trinity from the beginning of creation, but Satan planted a perverted and twisted concept of the Trinity into the pagan religions that existed before Christianity so that future generations can be deceived into believing that the Trinity is of pagan origin when it really is not. The Bible teaches that the Devil is a master at such tactics. The pure, unperverted, and uncorrupted truth of the Trinity, however, is found only in the Christian Scriptures. What about Colossians 1:15 where Christ is referred to as the "Firstborn of all creation"? Doesn't this mean Christ was created? No! The very next verse (verse 16) tells us why Christ is called the Firstborn of all creation. It's not because He was created but precisely the opposite: because He is the Creator of all things. The preposition "of" in the original language of the Greek New Testament can also be translated as "over." In other words, Christ Who is God the Father's Firstborn is over all creation because it was through Christ that the Father created all things (John 1:3; Colossians 1:16). The term "firstborn" in Scripture is the title given to the one in the family who inherits everything. It is a positional title more than anything else. In the Old Testament God had referred to David as being His "firstborn" even though David was the youngest of the children in his family. This was because David would eventually rule over all Israel. Thus, God used the term "firstborn" as a title of position. In reference to Christ, it is important to understand that the title "firstborn" does not imply that Christ was simply the first among other divinely begotten sons of God. John 1:18 makes it clear that Christ is God's only begotten. So God had no other divinely begotten sons. In the case of Christ the title "firstborn" is used simply to describe His position in relation to creation - that He is Supreme over all creation. What about Revelation 3:14 where Christ calls Himself "the beginning of the creation of God." Doesn't that teach Christ was created? No! The word for "beginning" in the passage comes from the Greek word or root "arche" which means "origin" or "source." In other words, Christ is the beginning (the origin or source) of God's creation. It doesn't mean that Christ Himself was created! The word "God" is a name. That Name equally belongs to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. That is why Christ said to His disciples to baptize all nations in the "name (singular) of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost (Spirit)..." (Matthew 28:19). When the name "God" is mentioned in Scripture without specifying the Son or the Spirit it is usually understood as referring to the Father. In John 1:1 shouldn't Christ be referred to as a God because there is no Greek article? The absence of the Greek article does not necessarily mean that the letter "a" is to be substituted. The context must demand it. There are various places in Scripture where the Father is referred to as God without the Greek article (i.e. John 1:6) but no one would refer the Father as a God because there is no Greek article. In any case, there are definite passages in Scripture where Christ is referred to as "the God", that is with the Greek article (i.e. Hebrews 1:8). I've actually had someone tell me that it doesn't matter if Christ is referred to as "the God" in the Greek New Testament Scriptures because even the Apostle Paul and Silas (who were mere men) were referred to as "the Gods" by pagans in the Greek New Testament Scriptures. But it's one thing for pagans to assert something since pagans can be wrong about what they believe, and the pagans were wrong when they believed Paul and Silas to be "the Gods", but it's quite another thing when the Apostles themselves who wrote the Holy Scriptures assert that Jesus Christ is "the God." Just because what pagans believe and say is recorded in Scripture doesn't mean that's what Scripture is teaching! After all, the lies of the Devil are accurately recorded in Scripture but that doesn't mean Scripture supports or teaches those lies. On the other hand, when the very Apostles who wrote the Greek New Testament Scriptures, by the inspiration of God's Holy Spirit, assert and teach that Christ is "the God" we are not then talking about what pagans believe or say but rather what the Spirit of God Himself is saying through the Apostles. And what the Apostles say and teach we must not reject! The fact is Christ, along with the Father and the Holy Spirit, is equally the God. There are no two Gods (a little God and a big God as the cults teach). Neither are there three Gods. Rather, there is one God in three distinct Persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Bible clearly teaches in various passages that the Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God and, yet, the Bible also teaches there is only one God. Thus, what we are to understand is that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are three divine Persons Who share one divine nature and Who are also one in purpose and fellowship. As Christians we may be one with God in fellowship and purpose but we are not one with God in sharing His eternal and divine nature. The Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit are one in both their divine nature and in their fellowship, communion, and purpose. It is very unfortunate that so many in the cults have distorted and twisted what the Scriptures teach regarding the Person and work of our precious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. True Christians thoughout history, regardless of denomination, have always agreed on the primary and foundational truths regarding the nature of the Person and Work of Jesus Christ. Where Christians have differed throughout history is in matters of secondary doctrine. The reader can find helpful materials at his or her local Christian bookstore to become better equipped to argue against the cults. Sincerely, Babu G. Weather Research and Modifications Needed Now

By Lance Winslow Mother Nature is showing us who is boss with her massive Hurricanes during this 2005 recorded breaking Tropical Storm Season. We need to harness some of her power and fury and turn it to the common good. Quite frankly we need to learn how to steer Hurricanes, prevent droughts and occasionally put out a wildfire or two. We must be proactive with weather research, control and slight manipulations with our weather, as this is the answer to the problems, which face us now and in the future. One could say that instead of manipulating and controlling our environment it is best to conserve and not touch those things that we do not understand yet. I hear this argument and I understand the basis for it both from the Christian belief system perspective and looking at mankinds performance as a steward for his environment. Whereas there maybe points to this argument; the basis for it comes from a basic flaw in thinking starting with our belief in the belief that has been adopted by most human beings on the planet towards a certain religion of their choosing which indicates that a god or gods created everything we see perfectly and that should remain to so. I do not wish to enter such a fundamental debate as no one would change their views and A person convinced against their will, is of the same opinion still. I would like to point out if we do not modify our weather, people will die and we can play victim over and over again and thank god for that? Think on it. A Look At The History Of Taoism And What It Is

By Gregg Hall Tao which is actually pronounced as "dow" is translated to mean the way or path in English. Tao in reality is not so easily definable. Tao is the power of the universe that encompasses and moves through all things, both living and non living. The Tao stands for balance and shows the harmony of opposite sides, such as light and dark, love and hate, male and female. The founder of Taoism is believed by many to be Lao-Tse (604-531 BCE), a contemporary of Confucius. (Alternative spellings: Lao Tze, Lao Tsu, Lao Tzu, Laozi, Laotze, etc.). He was searching for a way that would avoid the constant feudal warfare and other conflicts that disrupted society during his lifetime. The result was his book: Tao-te-Ching (a.k.a. Daodejing). Others believe that he is a mythical character. Taoism began as a mixture of psychology and philosophy but eventually evolved into a religious faith in 440 CE when it was adopted by China as a state religion. Taoism, along with Buddhism and Confucianism, became one of the three great religions of China. China's support for Taoism stopped with the end of the Ch'ing Dynasty in 1911. Religious freedom became even further restricted after the Communist Party's victory and takeover in 1949. Much of the Taoist heritage was lost in the Cultural Revolution that occurred from 1966 to 1976. Tao is the first-cause of the universe. It is a force that flows through all life.
"The Tao surrounds everyone and therefore everyone must listen to find enlightenment." Each believer's goal is to harmonize themselves with the Tao. Taoism has provided an alternative to the Confucian tradition in China. The two traditions have coexisted in the country, region, and generally within the same individual. The priesthood views their many gods as manifestations of the one Dao, "which could not be represented as an image or a particular thing." The concept of a personified deity is foreign to them, as is the concept of the creation of the universe. Thus, they do not pray as Christians do; there is no God to hear the prayers or to act upon them. They seek answers to life's problems through inner meditation and outer observation. Some of the basic tenets of Taoism are the following: Time is cyclical, not linear as in Western thinking. Taoists strongly promote health and vitality. Five main organs and orifices of the body correspond to the five parts of the sky: water, fire, wood, metal and earth. Each person must nurture the Ch'i (air, breath) that has been given to them. Development of virtue is one's chief task. The Three Jewels to be sought are compassion, moderation and humility. Taoists follow the art of "wu wei," which is to let nature take its course. For example, one should allow a river to flow towards the sea unimpeded; do not erect a dam which would interfere with its natural flow. One should plan in advance and consider carefully each action before making it. A Taoists is kind to other individuals, in part because such an action tends to be reciprocated. Taoists believe that "people are compassionate by nature...left to their own devices they will show this compassion without expecting a reward." Want Your Own Free Classifieds? Hold a Garage Sale!

By Jonna Ajeda Garage sales never go out of style. Its unlikely that you havent been to a few yourselves. If you like the thrill of bargain-hunting and free classifieds, then you probably won't mind doing the selling for a change. Holding a garage sales doesn't necessarily mean you have to be experienced in marketing; you just have to be confident. While there really is no ultimate rule in displaying items, just spend just a few minutes thinking about what you're selling, dust or clean them, then organize. This will help you sell more stuff at a considerably higher price. When it comes to rules in deciding which stuff to sell, there is none: anything can sell, what is junk to you may be treasure to someone else. Just make sure you won't regret selling the stuff later on. A good idea is to browse free online classifieds and see what people are currently interested in buying (and selling), and then go by that. Don't just put everything out randomly. Ideally, you don't want people moving things around on their own; you dont want people left to their own devices making a mess of your system. If you can keep people from rummaging about, in, and underneath your carefully organized displays, you will save yourself many reorganizing headaches later. Beg, borrow, or steal trestle tables so you can display items carefully and in full sight of prospective buyers.
Use old Hills Hoist and coat hangers to display clothes.
Group items by price. Again, check out free online classifieds to see how different items are normally priced according to model, integrity, slightly-used ness, rarity, etc.
When pricing, give yourself some leeway of a few dollars. That way, hagglers will feel they got a bargain.
Display books with their front covers or spines showing for easy recognition.
Divide tables into areas for different price ranges and put signs up letting people know what and where the items are.
The arrangement should make it easier for your customers to find what they need, and what they want. Be sure to put like things together and give people enough space to move around freely.
Let your kids be entrepreneurs too and have them sell their own stuff. Set up a separate table for them. Youll probably find they will do a lot better than you will.
At the end of the tables, prior to walking out with the goods, have a vigilant cashier who'll bag the items and take the cash. This will prevent items from being shoplifted. Finally, post a classified ad about your garage sale so people will know about it. State the opening date, the venue, and a few helpful descriptions about what you're selling. You can run a classified advertisement on your local paper, and for sheer broadcasting scope, go via the Internet. And remember to have fun. After all, garage sales are the perfect way/excuse to meet the neighbours and make new friends. Now people know you and you have just ran the biggest free classifieds for yourself. Jonna Lyn Ajeda recommend Ozfreeonline if youre looking for a Free Posting site. See also Solitary Jewel for more shopping related articles. OzFreeOnline.com is Australia's largest alternative free online classifieds for everything people want to buy and sell. It's absolutely free to be a member. And the best part is, anything you're not selling through your garage sale, or any leftover from ityou can also advertise. This is free online classifieds at its best! Wedding Etiquette: 4 Common Wedding Blunders You Can Avoid

By JB Anthony Nobody is perfect. But we can all try to be better: better hosts, better entourages, better wedding guests. With all the many guests milling around in your friends wedding, surely, nobody will mind a few slip-ups. But when slip-ups and wedding blunders are committed out of ignorance and further develops into a habit, that is another story entirely. Attendance (1) Unless it is otherwise stated in invitations, wedding invitations are only good for you and a date. There is no need to bring along another friend, who brings along his or her date! Wedding receptions are almost always RSVP especially if the wedding reception is held in a formal and expensive venue. To avoid embarrassing incidents, it is better to go on a wedding alone, without a date, rather than to bring along the entire neighborhood! (2) When coming to a wedding, it is important to be punctual. Never too early, but more hopefully, never too late either. In traditional church weddings where church doors may very well be closed once the ceremony has begun, it is improper for guests to interrupt the whole ceremony by pounding at the door just to be let in! Weddings are brides and grooms happiest day. Dont ruin it for them by stealing the limelight with a grand, embarrassing entrance. How would you feel if others did it to your wedding? Wedding Cheer (3) Most common mistake people make when greeting the newly-wedded couple is to greet the bride a bright and cheerful Congratulations, and to pump the grooms hand along with a booming Best wishes. Why is this a mistake at all? When you greet the bride with a Congratulations, it is tantamount to saying, Hey, Congratulations you just got yourself a great man! Traditionally, in a society where men still woo women, it is not the bride who is lucky enough to have snagged the groom, but it is the groom who is the lucky one to have had the lady for his bride. Greet the bride Best wishes, and the groom, Congratulations! Attire (4) Some wedding invitations do not inform you as to the required attire and dress code for the wedding. If this is the case, it never hurts to ask the wedding planner, the couples relatives or the couple themselves, as to the required dress code. It is always better to ask now than to embarrass yourself and your hosts later. Guests need not necessarily wear the color motif of the wedding, but they do have to dress accordingly in keeping with the ceremonys formal or informal nature. In an average lifetime of 70 years, a person of average social acquaintances gets invited into weddings at least 25 times in his or her lifetime. That is enough numbers to develop a reputation in the weddings that you attend: either as one with the impeccable wedding graces or as one who can commit the most perfect wedding faux pas! J.B.
