quality of learning that they trigger. If the teaching activities do
not result in learning, there has been no teaching. Likewise, if the
learning is lacking in quality, the teaching is unsuccessful to some
extent. Finally, there are modes other than that of knowledge transfer
which can play a more effective role in the triggering of learning.
Hence, an excellent teacher needs to go beyond excellent lecturing or
excellent knowledge dissemination. So it is obvious that an effective

lesson while the other finds no difference in it. Both the teachers I have interviewed have agreed that there is no

agreed there are students of different abilities irrelevant to the sex
and they have found some ways to help the weaker students. Both the
teachers also agreed that there are differences between the students
of different social background and others and they said that social
and family background of the students are very important and it
influences the student. School culture and administration, according to one teacher, helps and
give moral support to the teachers to teach their best. The other
teacher doesnt find any importance of dealing with the
administration. Commonly both the teachers have said that there is no
importance of dealing with the community. This is one of the aspects
that show the teachers are lacking some of the important roles with
the community. It could be the relationship between the parents or
within the school staffs. At various times I have heard the role of a teacher likened to one of
the following: planner, executive, manager, care-giver, psychologist,
counselor, instructor, advisor, communicator, motivator, and
administrator. But the basic role of a teacher is to teach, and this
involves the facilitation of learning and learning skills. In our
society teachers do teach in their own specialized field, with their
way of teaching. But being a teacher there are some important roles
and responsibilities he/she should look and concentrate on it, which
apart of traditional way of teaching. The teachers in our schools are
not that much aware of the multiple roles they may have to follow or
they have some constrains to follow or to make these roles. In most of
the cases teachers do self analysis and try to improve their teaching
year by year, by modifying the schemes of work, guides and the lesson
plans. Some of the teachers fail to maintain proper records, which is
very much essential to build the profession in the right way according

of the important issues of the students and the management. An ideal

responsibility is to just follow the rules and regulations of the
school and to teach the students in the prescribed hours. Obviously
this view is different in the modern way of teaching. Most of the
schools, the management will provide proper guidance and enough
materials to teach in an effective way. Teachers are needed just to
implement proper environment, where learning can take place. Most of the time teachers are able to take the class if they are well
prepared and the when class is normal. Certain circumstances the class
may not be normal due to various reasons. In these situations the
teacher should be a good communicator and a capable councilor. If the
teacher fails to have these two essential roles in a disturbing
situation definitely it will create misunderstandings and troubles in
the class and will not be able to archive the target objectives. Most
of our teachers are lacking these roles as they have alternatives like
sending a student to the office. When a teacher faces a behavioral
problem, it is more effective to solve these problems personally with
the student, instead of taking it in to the school management. It
helps to build a strong relation with the student and will develop the
skill of counseling and effective and argumentative communicating of
the teacher. Teaching is a skill which combines the roles and responsibilities with
the personal behavior. Different teachers have different personality,
since some of the roles are dependent on personality. There are few
differences in the roles of different teachers. One teacher has
revealed that the roles are the just the activities he does in the
school while the other teacher describes the roles of a teacher as a
roles of a responsible parent. So there are quite big differences in
these roles according to these two teachers. Some teachers are
thinking that the role of a teacher is fixed and limited according to
the rules and regulations of the school and they are doing just the

conclude that there are few differences in the understanding of the
roles like constructive self analyses and to be a learning
facilitator. Teachers who think that the management is a restriction
or barrier to perform the multiple roles, have the idea of controlling
the students in the traditional ways; by shouting and beating them,
but those teachers who think that the management is an essential part
of their teaching profession. These teachers control the students by
persuading them to the lesson. They also think that a proper
management can improve the ways of teaching by giving constructive
feedbacks to their lessons. An ideal teacher is expected to perform various roles as this
profession is not only based on a single character. Different roles
are different aspects that a teacher has to maintain and develop
throughout the career. The most fundamental role of a teacher is to
expand self knowledge through constructive self analysis according the
needs of the developing world. This includes personal motivations,
believes and values, needs and feelings, ethics, limits of personal
responsibility and the power of personal modeling. An efficient
teacher must be the one who has real concern about the self analyzing
roles. To teach in the modern way or to stand in the right track of
the teaching profession, the teacher needs to be a good researcher.
He/she has to know what is going on and what are the things has to be
dealing with and what are the new inventions and innovations in their

have to be acquired well in advance to concentrate properly. For

By Saleem Rana God Helps Those Who Help Themselves I dont know about you, but I often dont know whether I should act on something or just surrender it to God and let it show up in my life. Reviewing my experience with both these approaches, I find that both have worked and both have failed. Sometimes when I surrender, things do show up. Sometimes nothing happens until I act.
And sometimes I do the wrong things, too, and it still doesnt show up. Last Sunday, I got lost on my way to a new location. I decided to surrender. Intuitively, I knew when to turn left or right on each crossroad. Suddenly, remarkably, I found myself upon familiar ground and was able to complete my journey to my intended destination. Last night, for example, no amount of praying helped me ease my hacking cough. Since I had not been able to sleep for three days because of coughing every time I dozed off, I was in a highly agitated state. Finally, out of desperation, I jumped out of bed, wrapped myself up in multiple layers of clothes, stumbled out into the freezing night, climbed into my car and drove around until I could find a pharmacy that was open past midnight. I found one; purchased a coughing-sneezing-aching-let-you-sleep at night medication. For the first, in what seemed like a very long time, I slept very deeply and woke up completely refreshed. I know that these are small and perhaps trivial examples, but they do point to a much larger theme. God helps those who help themselves. Basically, you have to act in this world to get things done. Rarely do things just show up by themselves. This does happen, but not at a statistically significant level to count on it.
However, after you act, you have to let it go. You cant predict the outcome, and you definitely cant control it. Thus, I have come to the conclusion that our best recourse is to do what we can and then let go the results. Basically, we act and then we surrender. Here is a small fable to illustrate my point: In a time long ago, there was a clever merchant who bought some camels from a distant town and had to transport them to his home through the desert. On his first night in the desert with his new herd of camels, he did not know whether to take the time to tie them all up before he went to sleep that night in his tent. Should he just trust God and hope that he would be able to see them still flocked around in the morning? Should he make the effort of spending several hours tying up each camel to a stake in the ground? Mysteriously, a monk showed up. He was passing through and asked the merchant for some food and shelter. After dining the monk, the merchant asked him what to do about his camels. "Tie up the camels," said the sage, "and trust God to keep them there until morning." And here is a true story that illustrates it: I once worked with an MLM person. I joined his team when he was making direct sales and doing $10,000 a month. He was a wizard at the cold call. He could charm the fleas off a dog with his words. He was also highly religious. What he did was make the effort and surrender the result. Avalanches of abundance flowed to him. Then he became enamored with the surrender texts in his Bible and shirked the doing part. Within four months, everything that he had built up collapsed. In conclusion, God is the ultimate mystery. Sometimes our life lessons are to be proactive and change the world. Sometimes it is to be passive and let the invisible powers make all the necessary contacts and experiences. As human beings, we seldom recognize the lesson until later on. From our limited perspective, we dont know what things mean and what to do. Thus, I think action and surrender is the best way to play the game of life. Mash 1/2 banana and add 1 tablespoon honey and 2 tablespoons sour cream. Apply to face and let set for about 10 minutes. Gently wipe off with a damp wash cloth. Two tablespoons of cornmeal mixed with enough water to make a thick paste makes a great inexpensive facial mask. Gently apply to face and wash off. In a food processor or blender, combine 1/2 cucumber, 1 tablespoon yogurt, a few strawberries, and 1 teaspoon honey. Apply to face and allow to dry. Gently wipe off with a damp wash cloth. Grind 1 tablespoon almonds into a fine meal in a blender or food processor. Mix almond meal together with 1 tablespoon honey and 1 egg white. Apply to face and let set for about 15 minutes. Gently wipe off with a damp wash cloth. To loosen blackheads, combine equal parts baking soda and water in your hand and rub gently on your skin for 2 to 3 minutes. Rinse with warm water. Mash half of an avocado and apply to entire face. Let set for about 20 minutes and then gently wipe off with a damp wash cloth. Soak 1 cup dried apricots in water until softened. Puree in blender or food processor with 2 tablespoons skim milk powder. Apply to face and let set about 15 minutes. Gently wipe off with a damp wash cloth. Puree 1/2 peeled, sliced cucumber in a blender or food processor and add 1 tablespoon yogurt. Apply to face and let set about 20 minutes. Gently wipe off with a damp wash cloth. Crush a handful of strawberries and mix well with 1 teaspoon honey. Apply to face and let set for about 15 minutes. Gently wipe off with a damp wash cloth. Mix 1 1/2 teaspoons honey, the juice from 1/2 of a lemon, and 1 small carton plain yogurt. Stir in 1 whipped egg white. Apply to face and let set about 15 minutes. Start off the snow craft party with some Snowman Soup. Make a package of Hot Chocolate mix (the Nestle kind is great!) according to the package directions, but make it in a soup bowl. Add two Hershey Kisses, three regular size marshmallows and stir it all together with a candy cane. Yummy treat and great way to warm up from that cold weather!
Finished with the Snowman Soup? How about creating a cute paper bag snowman for the next easy craft? Only a few supplies are required for the snowman - 2 white paper bags, newspaper or scrap paper, 18" string or yarn, construction paper to make Snowman accessories, and glue. Open one of the white paper bags and stuff it with crushed newspaper. Open the second paper bag and carefully pull it down over the newspaper-stuffed bag. Simply tie the yarn or string around the bags to make a separation for the head and the body of the snowman. Then comes the creative part - cut out eyes, nose, hat, buttons from construction paper and glue them onto the snowman. Let the child's creativity shine - there's no snowman rules. When finished, put the snowman on display in a window or on a table for a great wintery centerpiece. Another fun, easy and quick craft project involves paper doilies. Paper doilies are readily available at party stores and craft stores. To craft a doily snowman, the following items are needed: three white doilies (one small, one medium, one large), glue, 12" x 18" construction paper. Ask the child to build a snowman with the three circles, then glue the doilies onto the large piece of construction paper. Pull out some crayons, markers or construction paper to make snowman features - the eyes, nose, mouth, etc. Have fun and let the child's creativity shine. Again, there are no rules in crafting play.

Looking for something a little messier? Another easy snow craft involves white tempera paint, silver glitter, blue or black construction paper and a snowflake sponge or stamp. Create a glittery snowflake picture by dipping the snowflake sponge or stamp in tempera paint and stamping it on the paper. Stamp as much or as little as desired, there's no limit. While paint is still wet, sprinkle glitter on the picture. When it dries, the snowflake picture will be ready for display.

Putting On The Pounds May Mean Added Asthma Risk

New research suggests that overweight and obese individuals in Dallas, Houston and throughout Texas are 50 percent more likely to develop asthma than normal-weight men and women. Public health efforts to control asthma should therefore emphasize the importance of healthy weight management, the study researchers reported. "The bottom line is that being overweight appears to significantly increase the risk of asthma," said study co-author Dr. E. Rand Sutherland, of the National Jewish Medical and Research Center (NJMRC) in Denver. "But the caveat is that, until further studies are done, it won't be clear exactly what type or severity of asthma is present in obese people." According to the U.S. National Institutes of Health, asthma is an incurable but usually controllable chronic disease involving inflammation and narrowing of the airways that carry oxygen into and out of the lungs. The disease, which affects approximately 20 million Americans, including 9 million children, typically provokes recurrent wheezing, coughing, and a hypersensitivity to allergies. A recent national survey found that about 65 percent of Americans are either obese or overweight, and research has long suggested links between asthma and obesity. In this study, researchers pored over prior data on the body mass indices (BMI) -- measurements of body fat based on the height and weight -- of adult asthma patients. They looked at data from seven prior studies conducted between 1966 and 2006 in the United States, Canada, and Europe. Together, these studies had looked at the relationship between BMI and asthma in more than 333,000 severely asthmatic patients. During data review, the study adopted standard BMI yardsticks, which define "normal weight" as having a BMI of under 25, "overweight" as a BMI between 25 and 29, and "obese" as a BMI more than 30. For example, a person who is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 145 pounds has a BMI of 22. The odds of developing asthma grew by 50 percent among patients with a BMI of 25 and up, and the risk climbed as the pounds piled on, the study found. Women and men appeared to be equally susceptible to the weight-asthma association, they added. Based on the findings, the researchers believe asthma should be added to the long list of diseases -- including diabetes, sleep apnea, stroke, cardiovascular illness, and arthritis -- for which excess weight is a risk factor. And, because two-thirds of the U.S. adult population is now thought to be obese or overweight, that means millions more Americans may be at risk of developing asthma than was previously thought, the study reported. On the up side, "significant weight loss" could potentially reduce asthma cases by as many as 250,000 each year, the researchers noted. Not every overweight person with respiratory symptoms necessarily has asthma, however. The experts noted that excess weight can cause lung volume reduction, chest wall restriction, and breathlessness unrelated to the disease. In fifty words or less (about 30 45 seconds) you should be able to communicate who you are, what you do, who you do it for and how people benefit from what you do. There are a number of easy, simple things that you can start doing today to get yourself out of that place of being stuck. 1. Craft a business plan and review it quarterly. A business plan is your strategy for guiding your business towards the success you envision. It is a roadmap. It will serve to guide you from where you are today to where you want to be. It includes important items like defining your business niche and target market, your marketing plan, financial projections, staffing, investments, as well as the benefits and features of your products and services. If you dont have a plan to follow, your chances of achieving success are greatly diminished. Plans remind us of what we are doing and why. They help to keep us on track and provide a benchmark to which we can compare our actual progress. 2. Write down weekly goals and measure your performance. One of the best ways to become unstuck is to write down what we want to accomplish. Several important things happen as a result. First, writing something down makes it more real. You take your ideas that are swimming around in your head and you put pencil to paper and start making them a reality. Keeping your finger on the pulse of what is happening is one way to avoid being in a marketing quandary. Maintain an awareness of the latest trends and fads, especially the ones that would influence folks in buying your products and services. Network with others so that you can develop new business relationships. Keep in touch with your current clients so that you can continue to cultivate these relationships and build the promise of future referrals. And, interface with your professional colleagues, even those with whom you compete, as you can benefit yourself and your clients by having someone to whom you can refer others. Keeping in touch with colleagues, clients, and everyone in between is the best way to ensure that you have the latest and greatest information by which to steer your business. 8. Dont do it alone. A quick way out of any place of inaction is to get into action. A great way to do that is to find someone else to partner with. A strategic alliance is not only a wonderful opportunity to combine your talents with that of someone else, its a great way to share ideas from which both of you can benefit. You can accomplish much more and more quickly by working with someone else. Youll also have the added benefit of making new contacts, possibly increasing your own client base if you share that information, and, of course, youll add to your own professional toolkit. If there is something new you want to learn or do and you dont have the expertise, seek out someone else who might be able to help. 9. Create an R & D team. One of the most common reasons for getting stuck is the lack of input. If you dont have any new input, its difficult to determine the best course of action when it comes to developing your business. Youll never be at a loss for valuable feedback if you create your very own research and development team. You can easily create an informal group of clients, friends, and colleagues who can give you feedback about current products or services you offer or ones you hope to debut in the future. One of the best ways to determine if your ideas have merit is by asking others about them. By presenting these folks with your ideas, samples or even the actual product or service itself, theyll be able to give you valuable feedback before you commit a significant amount of resources. Companies in every industry make use of R & D teams before committing substantial and expensive resources towards the release of a particular product. You can do exactly the same thing. 10. Learn something new and implement it. New input is sometimes all you need to get yourself going again. Challenge yourself to learn something new and not just for the sake of learning. Think about something new that you would like to do for your business. Craft a goal around what you would like to do, carefully spelling out the details along with a due date for completion. Writing down this goal will help to make it a reality. Then go out and seek the knowledge you need to make this happen. Consult experts. I will also look at several other market segmentation methods in the car industry. Market segmentation is an essential part of the marketing process. It
allows firms to allocate their market into groups that have the same
similarities which are relevant for decision making in the marketing
strategy. Then firms can target their market to serve
it effectively, they can differentiate the market, define the
opportunities and threats and tailor the marketing mix. To be useful, segments selected should
be measurable, substantial, accessible, differentiable and actionable.
The market can be segmented in different ways; the
three most popular techniques used are: behavioural segmentation which
analyse benefit sought, purchase occasion, purchase behaviour, usage
and perception and beliefs; the second is psychographic segmentation
which analyse the lifestyle and the personality of consumers and the
third is profile segmentation which base its researches on

the customer: Personality is an individual's pattern of character that

in their marketing research. It identifies target markets that could
not be isolated using only demographic variables.
Psychographics are designed to measure the consumer's
predisposition to buy a product, the influences that stimulate buying
behaviour, and the relationship between the consumer's perception of
the product benefits and his/her lifestyle, interests and opinions.
Often researchers have turned to psychographics
because of the limitation encountered in demographics. An advantage of
psychographics is that it describes segments in terms directly
relevant to advertisement campaign and market planning decisions of
organisations. It has also appealed marketers
for its power to combine the richness of "motivational research" with
the statistical sophistication of computer analyses and, provide
corporate strategists with rich descriptive details for developing
marketing strategy; it has the ability to give
marketers a big image of the consumer's lifestyle. There is also the
appealing advantage that psychographic segments which are developed
for markets in one geographic location are generalizable to market in
other geographic locations. Psychographics are
essential for discovering both the explicit and the hidden
psycho-social motives that so often spell the difference between
acceptance or rejection of the brand. But psychographics have limitations. Researchers have found
reliability problems: first there are no standardized methods to
evaluate the stability of results of psychographic techniques and
incertitude in this area weakens predictive power. Therefore it will
throw doubts in whether the segment and market targeted are reliable
or not. The main problem is that psychographics attempt to measure
intangible and diffuse concepts, values and attitudes are not easy to
measure as every single person has a different personality and
consequently have different opinions and interests. It has also been

Volvo uses psychographics to segment their market. They create cars
aiming mainly at "modern families". They analyse
what are the attitude and values of families towards cars, what are
the lifestyle of today's families: research showed that families were
going away for holidays and needed big cars that are able to be
reliable and provide comfort for the whole family. It has been found
that today, families go to the beach but also to the mountain. So
Volvo created cars that allowed families to purchase car to suit their
lifestyle. They also had to analyse the personality and the
self-concept of those families. A family that want freedom, that is
adventurous. And this is reflected in Volvo's advertising campaign. So
when people watch those advertisements they can rely on it and
identify themselves with the image they are giving out. Other methods of segmentation are used in the UK car industry such as
demographics or geographic. But often those methods, particularly in
the car industry, need to be supplemented with other data, even if
some researchers such as Ziff affirmed that "as demographic is
based on the ground that demographic groups are relatively homogenous,
it does not need psychographics to distinct customer's behaviour."
Demographics can turn up objective facts
such as tell that the target customer owns a car but it will not be
able to tell why the person bought the car; this "why" is told by
